Snow Flake - one pager
Harvi R, a junior data scientist, gamer (significant in colony culture) and urban explorer is isolated in his team, and a bit of an outsider. The isolation goe futhurer when one of his gaming friends decides to get edited. present a figure who is out of step. Then The indicdnet on station 19. The nature of the incident is critical - the victim has had his decision support algorithms trashed - he was 'decision blind' - and whilst others investigate the Murder, Harvi R is sent to look at the data crimes. Is the incident the murder of an edited? What draws him in through the murder?
NEED TO DECIDE WHAT SENECA'S GAME PLAN IS BEFORE UNDERSTANDING MIDDLE SECTION - REMEMBER IT IS NOT SENECA IN AND OF ITS SELF BUT THE HUMANS THAT DECIDE TO FOLLOW ITS ADVICE.
Investigation at station 19. Discover that the murder was suicide - something else killed him but what? This puts the whole of station 19 under suspicion.
Seneca fake recall of personality edits - but Harvi knows that this is some other crisis? An attempt to kill Harvi?
Resolutions, revelation of the frond garden, crime solved. the plants will grow, a truce with SENECA, but this was Seneca's plan all along. The frond garden is an area outside station 19, some distance away, where they have been cultivated small genetically modified creatures to survive on the surface of Procyon. They have progressed beyond slime, and have moved on to simple plants. The station 19 team have created a small ground cover plant that can grow on the surface, and are working on a simple eco system. Turns out that SENECA agrees and manipulated them to take the remote station 19 in the first place... Do the Humans care if SENCA is helping them/tricking them into doing what they want to do themselves? What, in the end, is free will? Does it matter if they are heading for the same ends?
Links to Stoic philosophy here - if you are doing the right thing, it dodn't matter if you have acclaim. Freedom is the ability to do the right thing regardless. To exercise virtue.
The hybrid plant is also growing it in its own way - the final revelation is that the Deep Music of Life is at work.
