Novel Snowflake

Scott's World - where identity and personality are a matter of choice, and where the 'AI' Seneca navigates the narrow path of survival for humans on a world not their own. It is a world where choice is being taken out of human hands, by dint of ever more complex analytics, NOT intelligent AI. The real risk is that we'll end up failing to exercise our own judgment.

What is the 'time clock' that exerts pressure? Departure of the SunStorm?

3) Characters

0.2) Notes on setting - basic 'why is it here, what are its problems?': Procyon - a constricted colony with the Sunstorm in orbit above on 'Scott's World'. SENECA runs the colony - an AI designed to address the issue of engineering failure (see Deep Background) and humans are willingly being edited to enhance stability. Seneca deems that the escape route offered by the Sunstorm to be too great a distortion and it is decided that the ship should leave. Editing accelerates - what is the point of resisting? Escape valve is Interchange - the culture 'hangs' around the individual's free expression in their personal simulated space. Minimises use of resources on non-essentials, and highlights the utilitarian nature of the real colony.
